A MODEL'S GUIDE TO MAINTAINING A HEALTHY LIFESTYLE
Updated: Jul 21, 2022

The fashion industry expects you, our model friends, to be polished and glowing. We are faced with daily judgement, 'keeping up appearances,' while exhausting, is one of the few constants the industry provides.
You know that staying healthy, fit, and strong is essential for managing gruelling schedules and demands, and 'wellness' is at the heart of a good foundation, just as your favourite pair of jeans and leather bomber is to your wardrobe.
We know you want to maintain flawless skin, hair, nails, and shape, not energy. It's easy to become overwhelmed with morin with bio-hacking (what does that even mean? ), brain-boosting supplements, and knowing the difference between Ashtanga and Vinyasa Yoga. How do you navigate the plethora of options available?
Rather than bore you with the latest trends in wellness and nutrition, I sought advice from my fabulous friend Bekk Milwood, who spends her days advising babes just like you on how to live in optimal health.
She knows her stuff as a Body Composition Specialist and Nutrition Coach, a.k.a. "guru," She believes that "staying healthy is always going to be about making the right choices and planning, and to be operating on all cylinders, your body needs a combination of quality nutrition, hydration, sleep exercise, and a positive mindset."
Get Enough Sleep: The amount of sleep you require varies from person to person and from body type to body type. This cannot be overstated. Sleep deprivation equals premature and rapid ageing (which no one wants!). Your hormones repair and rejuvenate your body while you sleep.
Eat Whole Foods: You've probably heard it a million times. If you're in the body business, you already understand the significance of natural and whole foods.
Avoid anything processed, packaged, or labelled "ingredients." It would be best if you ate the original ingredient. Inflammation caused by processed foods leads to chronic health diseases and disorders, not to mention gut issues, bloating, swelling, and breakouts! Maintain a healthy gut, and your skin, metabolism, and mental state will benefit.
Stay hydrated - out made up of roughly 60% water. It is present in your skin, muscles, organs, and brain, requiring at least 2L or 8 cups of water per day to function correctly. You will sweat under all those lights, just like when you work out, so you may need to increase the dose. If you're worried about getting a full stomach, limit yourself to small amounts consistently. Dehydration can cause dry or flushed skin, but it can also cause seizures, blood clots, and worse...
Stay Active - Staying active will keep your metabolism working for you.
Mindset Is Everything - Connect with like-minded people, rediscover your passions, and live life to the fullest. It can be tempting to spend your free time on your iPhone, but try to engage in real life as much as possible. Journaling could be a more productive and inspiring way to spend your leisure time.
